Leadership Profiles
 Don Lassaline - B. Comm., CA
Don is a University of Ottawa graduate where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Degree in 1978. After working for CA firms in a major city for one year, Don returned home to join Cox Hyatt & Company, a well-established firm in Windsor Ontario. He obtained his CA designation in 1981 and in 1989 he became a partner of that firm.
In 1997 Don, along with Harold Hyatt, FCA founded Hyatt Lassaline LLP. Don's role today as practice leader allows him to focus on the development and implementation of strategic measures targeted at growing the firm. Don's areas of interest include business growth services, business acquisitions, business succession, and business financing. His hands-on style allows him to fully understand client challenges and goals. His greatest reward has been witnessing both team members and clients develop to their maximum potential.
Don has served as a board member and chair person for a number of community organizations and continues to do so today. In his spare time, he loves to discover new food, explore new destinations, and play an occasional round of golf. Don is fluently bilingual and lives in St. Joachim with his wife, Lisette. He is the father of two children and recently became a proud grandfather.
Jeff has been a partner since 1999 with more than 18 years of public practice experience. He is responsible for the firm's Audit and Assurance quality and standards. In addition, he advises clients in the Not-For-Profit and Public sectors on these assurance issues. Jeff's specific area of expertise is owner-managed businesses. Jeff is developing a network of strategic contacts within various government agencies in order to advise clients on the variety of grants and incentives available to specific client needs.
Jeff has completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants' In-Depth Tax Course. He is bilingual (French and English) and services many clients in the Francophone community. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting degree from Brock University.
Jeff is married with four children. He participates in a number of sporting activities including golf and floor hockey. Jeff is the Treasurer of the Windsor-Essex Alzheimer Society and a finance committee member of his church in addition to coaching his kids in baseball.
 Brad Miehls - B.A., CA
Partner
Brad has been a partner since 2000 with more than 18 years of public accounting experience. Brad's practice focuses on income tax services for individuals and owner-managed businesses, a significant number of which are in the medical profession. He is experienced in many diverse areas including corporate reorganizations, tax-effective compensation strategies and United States income tax services.
Brad is a proud alumnus of the University of Waterloo and has been with Hyatt Lassaline since 1998.
Brad is married with three children and participates in a number of sporting activities including baseball, golf and bowling. Brad is an active volunteer with a variety of local organizations, including Secretary of the Lakeshore Sportsmen and Conservation Club. He was also the former Treasurer of the Woodslee Baseball Association. Currently he coaches kid's baseball.
 Ed Fuerth - B. Comm., CA

Ed Fuerth has been a Partner since January 2009 and was previously a Senior Manager since joining the firm in November 2006. With more than 15 years of public practice experience, Ed's expertise is owner-managed businesses in the areas of farming and greenhouse operations and, more recently, medical professional practices. Ed excels at developing long-term relationships with all clients, assisting them with their operational and planning needs. Ed always strives to exceed client expectations.
Ed is an avid hockey player and enjoys spending his spare time coaching for both Cottam Minor Baseball and Essex Minor Hockey Association. He is also an active Board member for several charitable organizations in Windsor and Essex County.
 Sherry Kelly - B. Comm., B.Ed., CA
Principal
Sherry has been with Hyatt Lassaline since its inception 11 years ago and has 21 years of public accounting experience. Sherry has significant experience in auditing and other assurance engagements. Her clients consist mainly of non-profit organizations and small businesses in the manufacturing, retail, and service sectors. Sherry's clients value her commitment to meeting their deadlines and they often call upon experience and insight to assist them in their planning and decision-making processes.
Sherry's love of the profession enables her to teach part time at our community college. She also enjoys boating and spending time with her husband, two children and her goldendoodle.
 Kenneth Smith - B. Comm., CA
Senior Manager
Ken joined Hyatt Lassaline LLP in 2008 after working for 25 years as a sole practitioner/partner in a smaller public accounting firm in the Windsor area. His specialties include personal and corporate tax planning for owner-managed businesses as well as assurance engagements for non-profit organizations. Ken is married with 3 grown children, and is an avid baseball and hockey fan.
 Jim Beneteau - B. Comm., CA
Senior Manager
Jim has been a senior manager since 2003 with more than 25 years of public practice experience. His areas of expertise include assurance engagements for owner-managed businesses as well as corporate and personal tax planning.
Jim is married with three children. While not working, Jim is an active volunteer with a local non-profit organization and enjoys spending quality time with his family.
 Joanne Miehls - B. Math, CA
Senior Manager - Tax
Joanne joined Hyatt Lassaline in 2005 as a Senior Tax Manager. She qualified as a CA in 1995 and placed 10th in Western Ontario on the Uniform Final Examination. She has 13 years of public accounting experience, including 10 years specializing in personal and corporate income tax. She has extensive experience in providing tax planning services including Estate Planning, Corporate Reorganizations and Cross Border Tax Planning.
Joanne graduated from the University of Waterloo in the Math/Accounting program.
Joanne is married with three children and volunteers as the Treasurer of the Board of The Windsor Homes Coalition and also, volunteers with the Essex-Windsor Master Gardeners.
 John Blanken - B. Comm, CA
Manager
John joined Hyatt Lassaline in January 2004 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2008. He focuses on accounting and assurance services for individuals and owner-managed private corporations. John has a background in information technology and enjoys finding IT-related solutions to client needs. He has experience in personal and corporate tax planning, business projections, and a wide range of assurance engagements for not-for-profits and owner-managed businesses.
John is a proud alumnus of the University of Windsor - Odette School of Business. He enjoys travelling and is involved with the Essex-Kent Chartered Accountants Association.
